BCC Heals

I've decided to again modify the title of this blog.

I'm changing the title and the tag line to "BCC Heals" and a bible passage that I believe is so hard to carry out but so critical to BCC's transition period.

When I launched this blog in my panic and anger last summer, I called it "BCC Blow Up".  It really felt like that at the time.  But soon I felt the blow up was over and the healing had begun so I re-named this blog as such.  Now I feel that the healing has not only begun but has taken root.  I also believe that my former tag line referencing Dr. Foster isn't relevant.  This isn't, and wasn't, about him I guess.

The passage from James at the top of this page is so difficult and so comforting.  And, for me, that's what BCC's transition this year has been.  It's very cool that Lionel put it to music.

By the way, this post from Jared shows that James is right on.

This thought was my chief take-away from our Conexus group meeting "Exploring Grace" Sunday morning.

It's an ideal I'll admit to having quite a bit of trouble with, and that's probably why the Holy Spirit put it in my heart to stay.  I must have repeated it aloud a dozen times this morning as I got ready for work and it seemed the pressure was building.  I posted it on our internal wiki on the quotes page at work so I'd see it every time I opened a browser.  I also hoped it would impress my colleagues - so far I've just gotten a couple strange looks :)

Is it just me or do forces conspire to rob us of this joy. But when we do choose to be joyful, it's a gift of grace that glorifies the father!

Relationships Series Wrap-Up

BCC staffer Chris Thomas answered my question about the sofa on stage.

Our entire concept of this series, Relational Realities, was to create an atmosphere to encourage relationships.  With the set design, room treatment, everything.  Creating a more intimate warm environment.  So we thought that getting away from the cold feeling silver stool and table would add to the that purpose.  Hence, the sofa.

Makes sense! I have to admit to missing that it was an obvious series prop and thinking it was a permanent departure from the space-age table and stool.

Relational Realities was a rich six weeks that was powerful in the context of BCC's healing.  On so many levels relationships were renewed with old school BCCers re-appearing.  New relationships were created within the fall Conexus groups. And finally, relationships are best nurtured over food. So what better way to wrap the series than with a BBQ.

I could not make the BBQ since I was taking Lyn to the airport for a week long business trip.  I would love to hear here some stories about the food and fun.  The weather was terrific, huh?

BCC Hip-Hop

For me, this was right up there with the best Sunday of worship since early August.  There were many highlights for me personally. 

I could go on a long time about throwback Sunday with Dr. Jason Pettus, although I won't too much since Jared gave it a great treatment.  I would just add that he came with the absolute right message at the absolute right time.  At the same time he encouraged the congregation about BCC's future, he let us know that God will make it happen through His people at BCC.

I'm getting so much spiritual nourishment out of the Conexus group Exploring Grace.  One of the most familiar passages in the whole Bible, Psalm 23, is coming to life as it never has.  Jared Wilson is leading this group which includes a number of other beautiful people.  I see that Jared is nominated as an elder.  Although I've only known Jared personally for a few months, I can witness that the Holy Spirit is strong inside him.  I believe that Jared would bring a needed theological perspective to the Elder Board.  So consider this my endorsement.

Finally, I have a silly question: Will someone please tell me what the couch is all about?  Now it's showing up as a background on the video name tags!
